The SLIM Lipo procedure uses revolutionary, new technology for liposuction and it’s here in the little town of Scottsboro! Unlike other liposuction techniques, this advanced laser technology delivers two wavelengths of laser light. One laser setting is specifically designed to melt unwanted body fat while the other wavelength heats the undersurface of the skin (the dermis) to provide skin tightening. The melted fat is then removed using tiny liposuction cannulas. In the old days, many of these patients might have needed a tummy tuck but with the skin tightening capabilities of this advanced technology, liposuction alone gives them fantastic results.
All areas of the body can be treated. The procedure is done in the office usually twilight sedation and local tumescent anesthesia. There is minimal downtime and some people return to work or school the following day. There is typically minimal bruising, minimal discomfort and only a few tiny incisions. The final results are remarkable and more smooth than traditional liposuction.
Dr. Bigelow has tried many different types of liposuction including traditional tumescent liposuction, powered liposuction, ultrasound liposuction, and VASER™ liposuction. She has colleagues who have used SmartLipo™ but they were not satisfied with the performance of the SmartLipo™ technology and did not recommend using it. She has also tried mesotherapy (injections of a mix of solutions that supposedly dissolves fat) without much success.
