Sculptra is composed of poly-L-lactic acid, which breaks down into water and carbon dioxide leaving a tiny trail of crystals that stimulate your tissue to make its own collagen. The effects are long lasting; they were shown in a clinical study to last up to 2 years after the first treatment session (and some patients as much as five years).

Q: What results should I expect?
A: Sculptra is not a “line filler”, but corrects lost volume that occurs with aging and restores youthful contours of the face. It helps to create a more natural facial appearance in those with facial deflation. Sculptra contours the face for a more youthful appearance.
Q: How long does Sculptra Last?
A: Results are natural-looking and appear gradually over a few weeks time. While the results of other fillers (such as Juvederm) last 9-12 months, Sculptra can last two years or more (some say even 5 years) because it resulted in making its own new collagen.
Q: What is the expected recuperation and healing following Sculptra?
A: Immediately following a treatment session, there may be redness, swelling, discomfort, bruising or all of these signs in the area treated. These usually disappear in a few days. Ice should be applied to help decrease swelling. It is highly recommended that patients begin taking a product called “Sineech” immediately after treatment to insure minimal bruising and swelling. Vitamin C intake and topical retinoid, such as SkinMedica Retinol Complex, will also increase optimal results and quicker results. These products and supplements are available in our office.
The treated area should be lightly massaged a few times each day for several days after the treatment session. Most patients feel comfortable going back to their normal routine after treatment.
